This gets suggested like every other week on the BBS. It always fails because you're effectively asking people to go out of their way, putting real-life things on hold and / or getting up at what would be the middle of the night for them, just to be on the internet. For the sake of making an entirely arbitrary number on the bottom of a webpage go up.
I dunno about you, but I prefer sleep and / or IRL stuff to random numbers on the internet.

I doubt it. That was the day of the NG redesign's completion, and a shitload of people were looking forward to that for a long time. I'd bet that a lot of those people weren't regular BBS users, just guys checking out the new stuff. Even if you rallied a bunch of people, I don't think it'd be enough.

Good point also not to mention, probably 2/4ths of the users back then hardly come on much anymore.
